Do I have Social Anxiety Disorder?

For the last 10 years, I've been thinking I have social anxiety disorder. When I am around people I don't know, I start sweating, I trip over stuff, I feel like I am frozen and I can't bare to turn my head. I feel like everybody is watching my every move. If somebody talks 2 me, then I am fine, but if nobody talks 2 me then I won't say a single word. It mostly happens in school or in a store. In school, if I am asked to come to the front of the class, my legs get stiff and I can barely walk, hence why I trip on stuff, sometimes air. I tried 2 tell a Dr. back when I was 18 %26amp; still had insurance %26amp; he said it was nothing 2 worry about it. It's strange because the only thing that might help me in that situation is alcohol, but I don't want to be an alcoholic and drink @ school lol. When I am not in school or in a store, I am very restless and find myself doing 10 different things @ once: MULTITASKING like a nut. Please help!

Sounds like it to me, but I'm not a doctor. You should try to get in to see a doc and maybe get on some meds.
Reply:Get a second opinion.. Yes you do have an anxiety and alcohol should not be the answer to your problem... See your Doctor, preferably see a psychologist and explain your symptoms... you may just need counseling or meds, something like Zoloft.

Read the info in this site: http://www.zoloft.com/zoloft/zoloft.port...
Reply:I'm not a psychoanalyst, but you do have some issues that need attention.

The best thing to do is to talk with a specialist. Only a doctor can help you to determine if you have DCG of any form of SAD.
Reply:Sounds like it...I am like that too...there is medication to help you...just talk to a doctor...hope this helps...relax and have a good weekend!
Reply:Actually it does sound like you're suffering from SAD. In order to be 100% sure, you'd need to talk with your family physician or if not, you could talk with a psychologist. I've read that it's treatable and that some famous celebrities have dealt with SAD. At any rate I wish you the best. Chin up Kiddo, you never know you might end up being CEO of an important firm one day. Especially if you're able to multitask on 10 different projects! ( ^ _ ^ )
Reply:Been there and got help. You can get help too. I started seeing a dr because I was having the same feelings. It got to a point where I stopped going anywhere. Just to work and home. She started me on 5mg of Prozac and that made a small change. I eventually bumped it up to 10mg when I was having some emotional problems and now I am med free and don't feel that way anymore. It's ok to get help and for me that was a hard step. It took my husband, mom, and step dad to sit down with me and a dr with a letter my mom wrote to get me to see what I was doing to myself. You will start living in a shell and it will get worse the longer you let it go. I couldn't even go to the grocery store without my husband to buy a gallon of milk. Alcohol is not fix for this problem. Good luck and I hope I helped at least a little bit.
Reply:Sounds like your in college. I would find out about resources available to you on campus to help with your problem. Good luck!
