Hydradenitis Suppurtiva?

Is anyone familiar with this skin disease? If not, it's a disorder of the sweat glands that produces a ridiculous amount of cysts, and often in less desirable areas of the body. I've had it for years now, seen doctor after doctor, and none of them seem to know a way to treat it. I've heard everything from "take birth control pills" to "don't wear tight pants." Why on earth would I wear tight pants? How unsightly.

It's not contagious or fatal, just ugly. I've had probably three surgeries to cut out several cysts, and now I look like the Bride of Frankenstein from the scars. I wash twice a day with antibacterial body wash, drink tons of water, etc. I just don't know how to make it stop, and since it's a rare condition, the doctors don't seem to know either.

I guess I was just wondering if any of you have this disease, and if so, how do you treat it?

Hydradenitis Suppurtiva?
I found this from Wikipedia.

Treatments may vary depending upon presentation and severity of the disease.

%26gt;lifestyle

::changes in diet

::warm compresses, baths (to induce drainage)

%26gt;medication

:: intralesional corticosteroid injections (to reduce inflammation)

:: oral antibiotics (to treat inflammation and bacterial infection)

:: isotretinoin (Accutane®), a prescription-only oral acne treatment (benefits for HS are very controversial, but it is generally considered to be ineffective)

:: anti-androgen therapy

:: sub-cutaneous injection or IV infusion of anti-inflammatory (anti-TNF-alpha) drugs such as infliximab (Remicade®) and etanercept[11] (Enbrel®). This use of the drugs is not currently Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved and is somewhat controversial, and therefore may not be covered by insurance.

:: Acitretin

%26gt;surgery

:: incision and drainage or lancing

:: wide local excision (with or without skin grafting), or laser surgery

:: radiotherapy

I really do hope you get better soon!
Reply:I found in your description- twice a day antibacterial body wash. I think you should stop that. Washing frequently (3-4 times a day) with plain water is better. Then you may sprinkle simple talc to keep body dry. Anything stronger stimulates your sweat glands to secrete more and that may aggravate your problem. So, dont use soaps, antibacterials and see the result. also, diet should be veg and blend. It will help. Good luck!
