hi there. this story is really sad. i have a friend, hes 18 years old and he lives in brighton, london. he 3 years ago when he was in high school, he used to get racially bullied, these group of friends(girls) kept calling him names and one name that got to his brain and never got out again, was that he smealt of sweat(bio). but beleive me, he never, he is a clean person, he smelt very nice, he would have a bath everyday he would go to school. he is in college now, and for the past 3 years, even after a shower, when another human being comes near him, he would sweat. i dont know if this is a mental ilness. even when he is with his own family, he would sweat really bad when they go near him. he has gone to his doctor, but we know how doctors are. when he sits in a bus, and some person sits behind him or next to him, he would sweat really bad. hes life is really hard for him. he tried alot to forget about this, but he cant. he has been sweating for 3 years now, everyday. what can he do??
Is this a mental disorder?
The sweating alone, is not a mental illness, but he can have anxiety or panic disorders/issues. There are a lot of ways you can help someone with these problems. Meditation, therapy, even medication can help.
I am no doctor, and i do not know for sure what the problem is. But sweating (whether it be a hot or cold sweat) is a sign of anxiety and worry. And to hear what he went through when he was younger can give you an idea of how he feels about the people around him, even though he does not know them beyond a passing face.
I hope your friend gets help and i hope everything works out.

Reply:that is a strange case. could be pshycological. tell him to see a shrink. other than that he could have something medically wrong. probably needs a battery of blood tests etc.
Reply:No it's not a mental illness but more likely trauma induced stress.
Reply:Trauma induced stress, I'm afraid. Do not fall into the mental health trap. This is for people who have been victims for their whole childhood.
I do not know what brings on these sweats. I used to get them occasionally. Funny, they appeal to some girls, but not to others. Luck of the draw.
