I've had 4 panic attacks so far, one in May and the other three since August, 2 in consecutive days. I've been researching and wanted to know if this is considered a panic disorder. I believe they are panic attacks the symptoms I've had are: sweating, trembling, fear, rapid heartbeat, cant breath. Was it a panic attack? After it starts I can't control it, but with slow breathing the duration is shorter
Lately I've been getting panic attacks, based on fear and once, anger.?
I have had panic attacks for 35 years. When it first happened I thought I was dying and the so called cure was almost worse than the attack. That was a long time ago and for 27 years I took no meds for the problem. In fact I wondered for about half that time if i didn't really have some rare disease they were missing in the test as I went to doctor after doctor. I finally gave up and decided It hadn't killed me yet so I guess I had to learn to live with it as if I did have a disease. Actually, if you look at it, really look at it, it is a disease in more than one way. It is a disease literally, as in it removes you (dis) from being at ease both physically and mentally. It is also a disease because it is biological in it's origin. That could be argued as in, which came first, the chicken or the egg. But it is biological no matter which comes first. Your thoughts or your body being the trigger does not matter much. All that does matter is that it involves your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and it is natural and has been of great value to human existence from the beginning of time. I'm sure you have heard of fight or flight...... Some people have, you might say, "hair triggers". Others just don't know the difference between excitement and anxiety and perceive all symptoms of elevated adrenalin etc. as anxiety. I wont go into great detail, but if you would care to message, or email me I will share with you what my 5 years of psychology classes and 35 years of research has taught me. Either way remember you need to use the adrenaline your body has produced for what ever reason, or you will experience extreme anxiety as it has been named.
Always see your Doctor before assuming something is what ever you think or others tell you it is. Be safe.
Here For you

Reply:The only person who can help you with this is a doctor.
Reply:Well...I've never had them myself but I know people who have had panic attacks and it sounds like you are also having them. I wish I could give you some sound advise but I really don't know that much about it. My friend got in touch with a guy by the name of Charles Linden and he was able to help her...I got his info from her and this is his website. I hope he can help you too...good luck,
Mary
Reply:The symptoms you describe certainly are consistent with descriptions I've heard of panic attack. I recommend that you see a psychiatrist.
Reply:Breathing is a good exercise. REalize that NOONE dies from a panic attack. Try the simple first. Cut out caffeine. If you drink, do so in moderation and avoid all together for a while. Alcohol for me is scary. When I am having one IT WORKS. There lies the fear. I could see myself drinking all the time to counter the anxiety.
Remain active. Workout. If the anxiety is so incapacitating that these things are not possible, see a doctor. You will need a benzodiazepine. Valium, Ativan, Klonipin. Only use these occasionally. Very addictive especially xanax.
Also, listen to any of the advice people here give you about herbal things. Chamomille tea. Herbal supplements. I have never tried these, but am interested and may do so later.
Reply:I get them, too. realize that you have stopped breathing . try to regain breathing by taking a deep breath and breathe slowly. think why are you having those episodes. keep a diary.
I get mine every now and then when driving on the expressway. ( horrible and i don't like it for several reasons)
the danger of it all and that i get them.
see ur psy.
Reply:Yes it is a panic attack you've been having. I'm also a sophomore in college and lately I've had the same thing happen to me. When you go to the doctor, they will just ask you some general questions like is school to stressful. They usually just give you medicine. I hope you feel better!
Reply:Sounds like anxiety and panic disorder. Go see a doctor and get meds. heres the google search link for self tests to see how bad you are.

I have panic disorder with agoraphobia and a few personality disorders becuase if it. Good luck. OH, it wont kill you just stick it out and do something to distract yourself like tv. If its really bad drink alchoholic drinks. It works in the same way as benzodiazepines and its legal to drink. But see a doc and if you do drink, dont tell the doc.
